Does anyone know a great hair stylist who is up to speed on modern haircuts? I have tried a couple of different people, and either I'm not explaining myself clearly or we just haven't been on the same page. Please help! I'm not looking for anything elaborate, just a modern style cut. 

Michelle at Maxx Studios is REALLY REALLY good at modern things. I had her cut my hair and I thought "what is she doing?!?!" but when it was done it was amazing and it's really easy to maintain. If you go in, ask her to see my pictures so you know (Amanda) Book soon cause I think she's going on leave towards the end of Feb. (575) 434-2232. 

Was it expensive Amanda? Where is Maxx Studios? And does she do color too?

Oh yes she does color and very well. It's like $60 for all over color and/or $60 for partial highlight and $30 for a haircut. But here's what I think: you get what you pay for. Plus, she studied hair in San Diego. I'm serious. Ask to see my picture and you'll see. She'll do a consult with you before she does anything so she knows exactly what you want.

Debbie at Smart Style in Walmart does mine & I always get compliments and she is great & reasonably priced.

I made an appt with Michelle for Feb 13th! I'll let you all know how it goes. If she is going to be gone for 3-6 months, we will probably be gone by the time she gets back. But I'll enjoy her while I can! Thanks everyone! 

I went to Walmart to get mine done, I think her name was Debbie. She did amazing, exactly like I wanted. 

Yep, Debbies the manager & she is great & gives her regular customers perks lol :) 

Jen at Lighten Up Salon is who I go to. She is awesome and her prices are so reasonable!! 

Michelle/ Chelsea from Maxx Studios are great! I got a haircut and highlights from Chelsea and have heard nothing but good things about my hair. They both really know their stuff!

Sooooooo- went to my scheduled appt with Michelle back in February and LOVED my hair cut and loved Michelle........HOWEVER........called in March or April to schedule an appt for May when Michelle got back into town from her vacation..........was told that I had an appt scheduled on May 22nd. The day before I was supposed to get my hair cut, I was talking to a good friend who said she was also supposed to get her hair cut on the 22nd by Michelle.......come to find out we were both supposed to have our hair cut at the same time.....my friend called Maxx Studios and NEITHER OF US WERE WRITTEN IN THE APPT BOOK......and Michelle wasn't even coming back to Alamo until June!!!!!! I had been waiting since February to get my hair done again and for Michelle to get back, so needless to say I was really pissed. I guess Maxx Studios is undergoing a change in owners, but that does not excuse poor business or customer service. My friend and I were not even offered an apology or a discount or anything. I WILL NOT be going back to Maxx Studios even though I will greatly miss Michelle. I'm on the hunt for a new hair stylist. Went to Secret Escape salon on New York and was APPALLED at the service and at my hair cut........so won't be going back there either! 

Maxx Studios is under new management with a new name so maybe that will change your mind. Michelle is back in town so don't give up on her. She has a new boss/owner. 

What happend at Secret Escape? 

I love how Michelle does hair! She is very updated in styles. Can't trust a lot of people who only cut hair one way or do bad highlights. She on the other hand is awesome can cut hairstyles which are in style and color like no other. Yay for new management, yeah we didn't like the previous manager either. 

The new manager was the one that didn't apologize or offer any discount or anything for messing up our appts........also, I think Michelle is due in August, and I don't want to have to find another stylist while she is on maternity leave :(

I was ignored when I walked in the door of Secret Escape and then left with the exact same haircut that I walked in with.........even though I brought a picture with me..........nothing like paying $30 for a "trim". 

Im sorry that happend to you at Secret Escape. I bet if you called & spoke to management and let them know what happend they would make it up to you. That is where I go, so I was shocked to hear about this. They really are good understanding people. I hope you will call & give them a chance to make things right. Good luck in your search for a stylist. I know when we lived in Florida it took me a good 2 years to find someone. 

Yea, I have tried a bunch of people in Alamogordo.......no great luck so far, except Michelle at Maxx Studios.......I might try one of the girls that were suggested in one of the other threads.

I AM BACK FROM VACATION. I've been back since Sunday, June 6th, which is WHY Christy & her friends appts had to be rescheduled.

MAXX STUDIOS just underwent new ownership & is now being changed to ALLURE SALON although the MAXX STUDIOS sign is still up, for now.

We're offering a higher end range of services and products to Alamogordo [i.e MOROCCAN OIL line & the BRAZILLIAN BLOWOUT] and we just received our new color line ALFAPARF which is a high end color line based out of Italy & primarily used in higher end salons out in Hollywood, CA.

FYI ladies, i AM taking appts as of now :)
I work Tues -Fri 11 to 6
and Saturday 10-?? [ depends on what i have scheduled ]
I'd be willing to work on a monday if necessary depending on your situation.

ALSO, i AM DUE AUGUST 28th but i'll only be out
for 6 weeks, which is the amount of time you need to wait for a trim anyway :)

I have said it before, I will say it again. I go to Smart Style in Wal-mart. The manager-Debbie does an awesome job with both cut, style & color as well as waxing. I have never been disappointed and have gone to her for over 2 years :)

I just got my hair done by Heather at Mane Attraction for the first time and I loved the salon.......everyone was very professional, I was greeted when I walked in the door and most importantly, I loved my haircut! I am getting a color done next weekend!
